Banana Moon

© John C. Mannone

The buttered crescent

rose into the twilight froth,

floated into root beer night

fizzing stars bursting out

of view; nothing left

but split banana moon

glazed by the cherry sun

already dipped below

the chocolate horizon

Just desserts

for milkshake skies shaken

with all that ice cream light
