Monsters in the Woods
by Timothy J. Donley © 2006
I hear a noise in the night
Somewhere far beyond my sight.
Through the forest and around the bend
I hope it's nothing but the fierce howling wind.
I creep ever closer to the loud frenzy noise
Upon first glance impression, it looks like a group of little boys.
As I walk forward for my first inspection
I realize to my horror it is a monster convention.
With a gasp and a scream I turned to flee
To my utter consternation they were faster than me.
I talked and talked, but soon forgot
All they wanted was me in the pot.
I tried to resist as much as I could
In the end, I was a meal for monsters in the woods.
