Perfection

Three perfect families live in perfect
neighborhoods and summer together
at the perfect seashore retreat where nothing
bad can happen; where no one will ever give way
to wanting what is not already given.
The men's masks never slip; a man-dance of well-trained dogs
quietly sniffing each other precludes any display of dominance while
the women might be curates' wives in a tiny diocese, silently serving.
Which one will be ill? Which will retreat into denial?
And which one will make a break for it?
