“White Lie” (WC119) by T. Guzman © 2007

It was easier to lie. When we first met and the get-to-know-you questions began, a bend to his preferences seemed reasonable, even acceptable. “Of course I love Sci-fi, doesn't everybody?” It was harmless, right? Did it truly matter that I'd fallen asleep during every episode of Star Wars? Would he not love me simply because my hair color came from Clairol? In time, I could learn to love R2D2 and his sidekicks.

Two years into our marriage, I developed an appreciation for Star Trek and Black Sabbath and the Indy 500. But when relatives began to hint about the two of us starting our own family...it was easier to say I couldn't than to explain why I wouldn't..
